Helpful Tools for Pet Owners

A friend posted a picture of her dog wearing his cone of shame the other day.  The bright orange duct tape holding half of the cone together caught my eye.  Laughing a little to myself as I thought of my own rambunctious pup, I read her post to see that he had chewed the cone in an effort to get it off.  Her comments included many links to alternatives of the cone, and I was intrigued by the tools the pros have come up with in place of the dreaded Elizabethan-style plastic collar.

Which got me thinking...what other cool pet gadgets are out there that I don’t know about?  Here are a few things I have come across, that may make life easier for you and your dog.

Portable dog bottle

This portable dog “mug” is unique in that you fill it up just like a water bottle, squeeze it to fill the bowl that attaches to the top, and your dog can drink right out of the bowl.  When he’s finished drinking, release the bottle and the remaining water goes back into the bottle.  How’s that for efficient?  And, it fits in your car’s cup holder.  Score!

Handy pet bowls

Have a bad back?  Never bend over to fill your dog’s water dish again!  This handled pet bowl allows you to lift the entire feeding system up to a table or counter to put food in one bowl and fresh water in the other.

Paw cleaning tools

Oh, man do I wish I had had these when we first moved into our new home and our backyard was a muddy mess.  Fill the mudbuster with water, pop the top on, and insert your dog’s paws one at a time.  Twist the cup so the soft silicone bristles can brush away the grime.  The mudbuster comes in three colors and sizes.

Upgrade your cone of shame

KONG Cloud Collar: The person who recommended this one gave it a 100 on a scale of 1-10.  I think it speaks for itself.  The perks of the cloud collar over the plastic E-collar?  It is definitely more comfortable for your dog, does not interfere with peripheral vision or eating and drinking, and is machine washable.  Add that it is scratch and bite resistant and you’ve got a rating of 100.

Making pet ownership easier!

So, which one will you try today? Dog tools such as these can help you keep your home cleaner, your pet healthier and give you more time to enjoy with your pup! Another helpful tool for pet owners is pet insurance. Enrolling your pet with pet insurance means you can afford high quality veterinary care when your pet needs it without worrying over the cost!
