Why should this person or animal be a PetPartners Animaltarian of the Year?
Kopper Top Life Learning Center rescues, rehabilitates and retrains animals to provide therapy in the community to people of all ages and levels of ability. Dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and other livestock are rescued from various situations and used as a therapeutic treatment to restore and rehabilitate individuals. Horses are used to provide therapeutic riding, to improve balance, socialization, communication, coordination, independence, trust and more. Another program provides animals to the community to assist in rehabilitating an individual after a stroke, car accident, dementia, aging or other situations. We take animals to nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and schools for companionship, to build hand/eye coordination, to bring smiles to people, assist through a suicide or loss, stress from exams, socialize and enjoy intergenerational visits from volunteers. Kopper Top clearly provides a great amount of service to the community and is deserving of money to help grow the farm.
If this person or animal was selected, what would they do with the $5,000?
Deborah would use the money enclose her porch to make a "catio" to rehabilitate kittens and cats. She would use the funds to spay/neuter the additional cats, to better transport the animals throughout the community and to help pay for the supplies needed to provide the therapy services.
