Why should this person or animal be a PetPartners Animaltarian of the Year?
Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary (BCR) exists because of one woman’s passion for saving animals that don’t have a chance. Blind cats and cats who test positive for FIV or feline leukemia are by law immediately euthanized in many states. Begun in 2005 out of a desire and drive to help these condemned cats, who can have normal, happy lives, BCR is now a forever home to blind, FIV- and leukemia-positive cats who will never again be abandoned, hungry or in harm’s way. They demonstrate every day that they are cats just like all other cats and can be part of a loving family. Because of BCR, more people now adopt cats like them. BCR’s cats are supported by nearly 1.3 million enthusiastic global Facebook followers who visit them virtually via 24-hour live cameras and daily tours, and through in-person volunteer opportunities. One woman’s determination 15 years ago has now literally given life to countless cats once thrown away. That’s love - and why she should be Animaltarian of the Year.
If this person or animal was selected, what would they do with the $5,000?
BCR provides quality health care for all resident cats, whatever their health status. With many seniors, FIV- and leukemia-positive cats, providing health care is costly. A typical monthly vet bill is $10,000. The $5,000 will help cover these costs and help keep the BCR cats healthy and thriving.
