Why should this person or animal be a PetPartners Animaltarian of the Year?
For their profound dedication and tireless efforts to help four-legged & two-legged New Yorkers alike, the Admissions team at Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) deserves to be PetPartners Animaltarian of the Year. ACC's Admissions Counselors?located in each of ACC’s facilities in the five boroughs--provide compassionate assistance to individuals seeking to surrender their pets. In its first year, the Admissions Department helped more than 1500 animals remain with their families, rather than be surrendered to ACC. Among those helped was Dani and her guardian Lisa, who were able to get an ASPCA Partners in Caring grant with the help of ACC; Lucy, whose good Samaritan finder was able to keep her thanks to counseling on how to care for a kitten; Das, whose human received advice about leash pulling and a healthy diet; and Magic, whose owner agreed to a deferred intake that allowed ACC to seek rescue placement while Magic stayed at home as a “foster.”
If this person or animal was selected, what would they do with the $5,000?
$5,000 would directly expand the Admissions team’s ability to help animal guardians keep their pets, enabling counselors to buy items such as scratching posts or harnesses in cases where a simple solution means a family could stay together, or to subsidize consultations with trainers/behaviorists.
