Why should this person or animal be a PetPartners Animaltarian of the Year?

Dr. Lucero grew up in New Mexico and joined the military when he was 17 and served 20 years. He then went back to school to pursue his lifelong dream of being a veterinarian at University of Florida. He graduated in 2012 and got his first job at a small animal clinic in Clermont, Florida. That is where he met Chris P. Bacon. A lady brought him to the clinic to be euthanized. He was this adorable 2 day old piglet who had nothing wrong with him other than deformed hind legs. Dr. Lucero knew he had to make a choice and it was clear this little piglet had no one on his side but him and he had a strong will to live. He told the lady he could take the piglet to his farm and give him the best life possible. From then on it has been a journey for both of them. Chris and Dr. Lucero spend a lot of time visiting children's hospitals and special events for children with disabilities. He truly gave this piglet the best life he could have ever hoped for. Their journey is far from over.

If this person or animal was selected, what would they do with the $5,000?

Dr. Lucero would continue to pay it forward to his favorite charities.
