Why should this person or animal be a PetPartners Animaltarian of the Year?
Coalition to Unchain dogs helps people in underserved areas of our community care for their pets. From building fences and providing basic veterinary care including spay/neuter and vaccinations to providing collars, leashes, & indoor crates, we provide non-judgmental assistance to those who need it most. We reach populations that face the greatest barriers in accessing services for their pets and take the information and services directly to them. In short, it doesn’t start or stop with a fence. We’re also building relationships, trust, optimism, and a sense of openness to possibilities…both for ourselves and those we help. By getting to know people and helping them see their pets in a whole new light, we’re setting in motion a process that radically changes the expectations of a family, a neighborhood, and a community. We call it “contagious care". It’s a lasting change that goes a long way toward stopping the endless cycle of “rescue and repeat.”
If this person or animal was selected, what would they do with the $5,000?
Many of our clients rely on public transportation and do not have the means to take their pets to and from the veterinarian. We will use the $5,000 to help us grow our cause by putting it towards a fund to help us purchase a van to transport dogs to and from their veterinary appointments.
